Simply Shakespeare Productions:
General Info
April Feld Sandor, founder of Simply Shakespeare, is creating a series
of comedic
plays adapted from Shakespeare's works. Each is designed to introduce
audiences
ages 12 and up to the language, humour and history of Shakespeare and
his world.
The plays use Shakespeare's First Folio language and borrow those
lovable "rude
mechanicals" from A Midsummer Night's Dreame: Bottome,
Peter Quince, Starveling,
Snug and Flute — giving them new character histories for a fanciful
look at Elizabethan actors and Elizabethan times.
The Lyon's Part, based on A Midsummer
Night's Dreame,
is available for
production, and coming soon is You Take The
Low Road, based on Macbeth.
Other productions in the works are The
Gravedigger's Lament, based
on Hamlet,
and With Ham On The Side, based on As
You Like It.
These productions are suitable for funding events at your organization
and for schools with accompanying workshops and follow-up materials.
The rights to produce the play may also be purchased by your theatre
company or school.
