The Lyon's Part takes a framing device from A Midsummer Night's Dreame, wherein a group of artisans prepare to perform the play Pyramus & Thisbe, and focuses on the lives and egos of Elizabethan actors. It is the first to introduce the expanded characters of Bottome, Peter Quince, Starveling, Flute and Snug, and the hilarious subplots that weave their way through this and the other Simply Shakespeare productions.

The Lyon's Part received its World Premiere in Philadelphia, PA in March 2004. The play, for five actors, runs approximately 45 minutes.
